The work came first. He started out as an audio technician on live concerts, where the tools fit the job: to bring up the lead vocal you reach for the fader in front of you, no time to hunt for a mouse. When he moved into corporate events, running wireless microphones and the presentations on screen, one thing kept grating. To switch from one speaker’s slides to the next he had to drag a mouse around and wait for files to open and close: clumsy and slow next to the audio console he was used to, and exactly the kind of fumble you cannot afford with a full room watching.

So he built his way out of it. Together with a programmer he made a tool that switched presentations with a single keystroke, and kept it quiet at first: a private edge that let him do the same job with a lower pulse and fewer mistakes. It was too useful to keep to himself. He founded PresentationTools in 2020 to share it, and that tool became APS, which now controls presentations from a Stream Deck or Bitfocus Companion. CueTimer, the company’s stage timer and run-of-show tool, came from the same place. The countdown software he had been using was too slow to set up and edit mid-show, and CueTimer is now used at events in more than 60 countries, from corporate AV teams to Queensland Parliament.

He still works events, freelancing as an audio and AV technician: running sound, operating graphics and presentations, and handling streaming alongside running the company. That is the whole point: the guides and field reports on these sites are written from the wings, not the whiteboard. They are about what actually works when the room is full and the schedule is slipping, not what sounds good in theory.

PresentationTools is a Norwegian company, founded in 2020. Morten owns and runs it, and works with a small team to build and maintain the products.
